Today I have been playing with Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint on an old dining chair. I have six odd chairs that I have bought on ebay and at bootsales over the last year and I am finally getting round to painting them. I love the idea that they will all be different styles but will be the same colour….I love things that don’t match!
I decided to start with one of the dark wood ones as I knew I would see the biggest difference for all my effort lol. It says on the tin that you don’t need to sand your furniture first…I sanded mine a little as this chair had the odd sticker on the seat. I will also have to sand the one on the far right as the paint is peeling in a lot of places.
I then applied my first coat. It doesn’t look anything special yet and I won’t be able to resist sanding it lightly before the second coat.
I also bought the clear Soft Wax by Annie Sloan and the brush recommended for applying it. I know I could have used a rag but I think this will be easier for those harder to reach places…will let you know how I get on.
I’d never heard of the chalk paint before but it sounds amazing. I love mismatched chairs too! Have fun altering them 🙂

Good luck with your chair project I am sure they will look awesome. Have a great WOYWW, Cindy #59
I bet they will look fabulous when they’re finished. It’s so good to use what’s already on the earth rather than buying new. My DD has almost nothing new in her home except electrical appliances. Her kitchen units are made from WW2 scrapped aeroplanes and her shelves old railway sleepers.

Interesting, never seen this type of paint before. Thanks for stopping by at mine.
Happy crafting, Angela #59
I love unmatching chairs! You never have to worry if one needs replacing! You have a big job on your hands! I’d love to see the finished chairs!

Oh it’s like my unmatching but matching teacups and such – love it. They are going to look delightful, and every time they make you smile you’ll be able to say ‘I did that’, and thats a double smile!
I love mismatched chairs as well. Have the same thing in my dining room. Can’t wait to see the finished products.
Happy WOYWDW!
