Not long after my last post, I hit the road and travelled to Crick near Rugby for the first of a three day seminar with Karen Hubbard from the States. \u00a0Karen’s visit here was hosted by BADFA (British Association of Decorative Folk Arts) an association that I have been a member of since starting my decorative painting journey in Oz.<\/p>\n

It’s a while since I’ve been to a BADFA Convention and the Committee worked brilliantly to provide a fun packed three days of art lessons, evening painting sessions for those staying over and a chance to buy arty products too…you can’t get better than that! \u00a0The Convention facilities at the Ibis hotel were great and we were served lovely food endlessly!<\/p>\n

It was fab to catch up with friends that I haven’t seen for a while and to meet others too. \u00a0I loved painting my cat with Karen and learnt how to paint fur with a sable brush, something I have never done before…she’s not finished yet and knowing me, won’t be for a while most probably, but the technique I will certainly be repeating on bears and other designs. \u00a0I also bought one of Karen’s pattern packs, a close-up of a dog’s face….now that is more my style lol.<\/p>\n

Anne Patmore made an amazing cake to celebrate the annual event…..I was only there the first day so didn’t get to try it even though she said I could…didn’t want to ruin it for all the others coming on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

If you love decorative painting, why not think about joining BADFA, you get great support and encouragement from other painters…..I might see you there next year \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
