I recently finished two door plaques for each of my granddaughters……
I had a couple of mdf blanks in my stash and Jo said she wanted the backgrounds to be pale grey, so I got them base-coated and then went on the computer to play with different styles of lettering. Once this was decided, I then enlarged their names to the right size and traced the letters onto tracing paper with the plaque size traced too…..now for the fun bit!
As Evie who is 6 is often in my studio with me, I asked her what style of flowers she wanted and asked her to choose the colours. She had recently been telling me all about butterflies in her garden too so I added one of those with some extra stitching to the flowers.

Iyla is only 2 so I got to choose the flowers….daisies for me as I LOVE to paint them. I chose a warm red for her lettering and couldn’t resist adding a caterpillar to one of the letters.
Finally I felt the plaques needed a checked border to finish them off.
I’m glad to say Rob and Jo LOVED them….Evie was pretty impressed too ha ha.
Til next time…
